The Crying Game

Anyone who knows Will, knows that he loves the water and loves bath time. Well, we have one of those FrogPods in our tub that holds Will's toys and such. Every bath, Will loves playing with the FrogPod. He takes off the handle and uses it to fill with water and dump it over his head. He can remove it himself now. He also likes helping mommy put his toys back in it when it's time to get out of the bath. Well a few nights ago, he went to pull off the handle as usual, and the entire thing came off the wall and and slid into the tub. He didn't fall or bump his head or anything but he was terrified and he screamed and cried like I've never heard. Well, he has a good memory because we've tried twice now to give him a bath and he's all happy until he sees the tub and then starts freaking out. He totally scared to get into the tub now. Last night we tried by removing the FrogPod completely and daddy even got in with him, but he was having nothing to do with that either. It just breaks my heart to see him so upset like that, he just looks so scared. So we'll have to keep trying but if anyone has any great ideas on how to get him not to be scared, I'm open to hearing them. We even tried distracting him with bubbles and a new toy, but it didn't work. And those always get a smile and big giggle out of him....

isn't that funny how kids can remember emotions like that?

i have no advice, but i hope he returns to his splashy-self soon!

The only thing I can think of is to just keep putting him there even though he is upset so he can form new experiences without the fear aspect. also try putting the frogpod out so he can see it. Ironically, our frogpod fell off the wall 2 days ago.....yikes!
