Sleepy Head

I went into the kitchen yesterday to fix Will a mid-morning snack. Which incidentally he calls "gack?" (have you noticed kids always talk like their asking a question?) Anyways, I must have taken too long because when I came back into the living room, he was sound asleep with the blanket over his head.

When Mommys away, the boys will play

I had a wonderful weekend away with my sister this past weekend. I missed Will and Paul so much, but don't think Will had time to miss me as daddy kept him really busy and having lots of fun. I'm so blessed to have Paul and to see what a great father he is. He loves playing and being crazy with Will and Will LOVES daddy. Every time the phone rings or someone comes to the door, he says "dada?" It's so cute. We try to call daddy at work every couple of days so that he can talk to him. It's so cute.

Anyway, here are a few pics from his weekend with dad. The video is so cute and now every time I have a drink in my hand he brings over his little sippy cup to do it. You'll know what I mean when you watch the video.

A Puppy and a Cow

Will and I have been practicing our animals. We're trying to learn them by seeing them and hearing me say them. He knows a kitty, cow, puppy and duck really well. I think I overworked him today though because he seemed a little confused :o)

There's nothing like a good book

Just my little man being his usual silly self.

Happy Birthday Linda!

Laura, Kiera, Will and I had a great visit with Linda and Josh this morning. It is her birthday and she looks as beautiful as always. I love everything about Linda and am so glad to have her in my life and in Will's life too. She's definitely family to us. Happy Birthday!

Coffee with some of the girls

Will and I met with Laura and Kiera, Erynn and erin and Anderson for coffee on Friday. Thanks to erin for these pics as there aren't a whole lot of pictures with just me and Will. We had a great visit and as usual cleaned out the snack counter.

Teach them in the way they should go....

For whatever reason, Will LOVES to watch the wash machine when I run a load. So every time I put in a load of laundry, he comes over and goes through all the steps with me. I figure I may as well teach him while he's young right? :o) Haha.

Our Last Gymboree

Well Thursday was our last Gymboree class. We will join again in the fall as Will really loved it. It really helped with his small motor skills as well as helped with his walking and even learning how to play with others. He still likes going off and doing his own thing but did enjoy playing with the other kids too. He loved the teacher Shannon, she was so great with the kids.

I have no Idea Why Will is doing this???

A couple of days ago, Will started doing something very strange and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Every time he eats, he puts his food on his head! Isn't that weird. It's so hard not to laugh. Paul and I try to be serious and tell him not to do that, but we take one look at him and start laughing and then he's laughing which of course encourages him to do it again.

Just Me and My Shadow

We decided to do a little walking with Will yesterday and take him to the park. It was so funny because the second he discovered his shadow, he didn't want to do anything else but chase it. If we tried to point him in the other direction and there was no shadow, he freaked. It was pretty cute. He kept pointing at it and saying, "this, this". Can't wait till he can talk.

Zoo Day!

We decided to enjoy the beautiful 18 degrees by hanging out at the zoo with the Yungwirths today. It was so fun to watch the kids as they actually enjoyed being there and seeing all the animals. I think Will's favorite was the huge turtles. We sing a turtle song so he knew exactly what they were.

Usually my favorite are the Giraffes, but today I have to say I was feeling sorry for the warthog. To be this ugly AND have lost a horn.....I felt so sorry for him. So today, he is my favorite. Here's looking at you big guy :o)

Will and Amie were so cute, especially little miss with her hat and glasses. Will loves her and always shares his snacks with her.

By the end of the day, it seemed like everyone was pooped and needed a little nap.

18 Months Old

Well, William had his 18 month Vaccinations yesterday and he was really not happy with me at all considering everything he's been through the last couple of days. They give the 18 months needles (2) in the arm now, not the leg and it's just not as beefy up there.

All that to say is that he weighed in at 29 pounds and 33 inches. He is officially ON the chart now in the 75 percentile. He's always been off the charts for his head, height and weight. I was so surprised that he didn't weigh more than that, as he just seemed to be so heavy lately. But I can totally tell that he's thinning out do to all the moving around and his appetite has actually come down a bit. In 6 months he has grown 2 and 3/4 inches and has gained 2 pounds. He's growing so fast. He also has 20 teeth! (yes, I said 20)

At 18 months:
-he can put a couple words together now and has lots of new words.
-can understand and follow directions
-can finally walk, stand and sit without my help
-dances when he hears music
-blows kisses and gives kisses
-loves to play with other kids
-shakes his head no when he doesn't want something
-says "this, this" and points to stuff that he wants
-is still screaming when he doesn't get what he wants :o(
-is very sensitive

I'm loving this stage and loving watching him change and explore. FUN!

A spoon full of Auntie helps the medicine go down...

No one knows how to get a laugh out of Will better than his Auntie Erynn. Well except for his daddy. But Erynn always has this way of making him feel better. She came for a visit last night and brought out blanket bunny. I love this video because Will knows exactly what she's doing and starts laughing as soon as she grabs his blanket. He lights up when she walks through the door. He LOVES her!

Sponge Bath, No Pants

Last night was the first of many sponge baths to come over the next 10 days as we can't get his boo-boo wet. He looks all muscly and cute doesn't he???

Will's Lucky Finn

Well, for those of you who haven't heard yet, yesterday was a really bad day around here. And for those who get faint easily you may want to skip this read.

At about 10am I was on my way out the door to Will's 18 month doctor's checkup. I had him on my left hip as always and diaper bag over right shoulder. I pulled our big door shut to lock it and soon realized that I in fact, closed Will's left hand in the door. He screamed so loud that It made me scream. I got the door open again and have never seen a finger so badly smashed. The top half of his pinky finger was completely flattened. So much so that I thought I had severed the top half of his finger. I looked in the door jam for it, but didn't see it. I started freaking out, I was crying and screaming for help and just didn't know what to do.

I love our neighbours, the girls from next door came right out and sprang into action. Within 10 minutes we were in an ambulance heading to Children's Emergency. I have to admit it....I totally came apart, I don't think I've ever cried that much. Will was just looking at me with those big eyes and just screaming. All I could do was say I was sorry over and over to him. As a parent, to see your child in pain is awful but to know you caused it is unbearable. I couldn't stop crying, I'm still crying. I honestly never thought to check if his little hand was out of the way. Let that be a lesson........

The folks at Children's were wonderful and pushed him through right away. After exrays and seeing the Emerg doc, thankfully, I did not sever his finger, but it is badly broken and now is a splint. He has to wear it for 10 days when it will be removed and re-exrayed and splinted again. Oh, and I have to keep it clean and dry. This from a kid who gets into everything and likes to play in the dog dish. We were home by 1:30 and Will slept most of the afternoon in my arms because I just didn't want to let him go.

All that to say, William is truly an angel. Even through all of this, he is still his sweet happy self. He still wants to play and go for rides and is totally content until he remembers and then starts to cry. He's high on drugs and a little off balance so he's sleeping alot. He slept the night which is such a miracle and is sleeping again now.

Just like Nemo, Paul now refers to Will's owie as his 'lucky finn' :o)

People say that this is the start of many trips to the emergency room over the course of his life.....I hope not, because I don't think my heart could take it.

Visit with Auntie Tammy and Uncle Dave

Our Niece Amanda bought a Unit in our complex and Paul and I are so happy. She is such a sweetheart and to have her so close, makes us all excited. Paul's sister Tammy and her hubby Dave came for a conference in Calgary but decided to come a few days earlier so they could help Amanda put in her new floors. We had such a great visit with them. On Sunday I made a big turkey dinner to celebrate. Can't wait to see them again.

Oh, and another thing....why is that we always forget to take a picture BEFORE we start eating!!!

Whenever Paul sits on the step to put his shoes on, Will comes over and sits beside daddy like a big boy. So as soon as Uncle Dave sat down to put his shoes on, Will came right over and sat beside him. So cute.

I'm really walking now!

Finally our little man is walking....I mean really walking. Unless he has to get somewhere fast.....then he crawls. I've never seen a baby that could crawl as fast as my Will.

Blanket Bunny

I would like to introduce all of you to Blanket Bunny. As most of you know, Will won't go too far without his trusty blanket. But Auntie Erynn makes it even better because she makes a bunny out of his blanket whenever he needs a little cheering up. I can't believe I don't have a pic of Will laughing at her and it, but he always laughs and laughs when she does it. It pretty much gets a laugh out of all of us. Here we are at Indigo enjoying coffee with my sis........
