One hair fiasco after another

I seriously don't know how much more I can take today. Let me tell you about my day.

I took Dante to his grooming appointment at 10am. Not one hour after returning home, I get a phone call from the groomers saying that Dante will not let them get anywhere near him. He is biting and snapping and they can't even get the muzzle on him. They ask me to come down and try and put the muzzle on because shirley he'll be fine once that happens. So i pack up Will and off we go. I get there, get the muzzle on him with no problem, stay until they figure he's good to go. I leave covered in hair to go back home. Another hour later the groomers call again and say they can't finish him and perhaps I should bring him back tomorrow. So I call Erynn to stay with Will and fix HIS bad haircut and head off to get Dante. I broke down in tears when i saw him, he was so panicked and looked terrible. I pay the $60 and head straight to the vet's office. Break down in there until the vet would see me so she could prescribe a sedative...for Dante, not me. So another $82 later and meds in hand i head home. After letting Dante calm down I decided I would take the scissors to him to fix his hair and help out the folks tomorrow. When will I ever learn?? Now he just looks like someone took scissors to him. This is what he looked like when I picked him up.....they got his body done but not his head or feet. He looks like the dog from Lady and the Tramp, only waaaay uglier!

And this is what he looks like after I took the scissors to him.

Auntie Erynn Saves the Day

Thanks to the beautiful and talented Auntie Erynn, Will's hair looks like a normal cut. She came over this afternoon to try and even out what I'd done. Thanks Auntie, Will doesn't know how lucky he is to have you. Me too :o)

Mommy did a bad, bad thing!

You would think that after having a mother, sister and best friend who can all cut hair that some of that would of rubbed off on me. But alas, poor Will found out the hard way, that indeed mommy can't cut hair.

It all started this morning when I was trying to comb Will's hair and couldn't even get a comb through it at the back. Will rubs his head back and forth until he falls asleep. It has been getting worse and worse and I have been thinking I should get it cut. So, I had the brilliant idea of putting him in the tub and taking the shears to his head. I mean how hard could it be right? I put the guide on and just run it along his head.

Not so simple, his hair is so baby fine that it would just stick to his head and lay flat. But I couldn't just leave it half done, so I kept hacking away....really what else could I do?

Needles to say, I won't be trying this at home again any time soon, I will leave it to the professionals. Auntie Erynn is coming over this afternoon to try and fix it. Thank goodness he wasn't older and had to face his friends. He'd be so mad at me. Oh Will, mommy is so sorry!

Now I Can Do it Too!!!

This is not the best video for a couple reasons; first, it's too short and at a bad angle, it's still a little early to get a good one, second, I was a little too excited and am very loud :o) Big surprise there. All that to to say, Mr. Willy Pants has decided that he would walk yesterday for the first time. I was playing with one of his toys and waiting for him to bring me another piece that flew across the room and just happened to look up to see what he was doing and he was walking across the room to me. Just like that. From the kitchen table to the couch in the living room. I was so stunned and so happy and he just laughs out loud every time he does it. I'm so happy and so proud of you William. Mommy loves you!!!

Coffee with the girls and the babies.

It has been weeks since we all got together for coffee. Unfortunately Deb and Faith couldn't make it today but it was great to have Laura and Kiera there for the first time. The group is growing and soon to expand further with baby Kelly on the way. I think the kids really enjoyed playing with each other and catching up too. They are all getting so big. Both Amie and Anderson are walking now which is so great. It's so nice to have such a wonderful circle of friends to lean on and learn together. I love them all so very much.

At one point erin was like a mama bird feeding the babies. When you bring out a snack they all come a runnin' with open mouths.

Kiera is now 6 weeks old, and she totally smiled at me today.....a few times. And no, it wasn't "just gas" !

Anderson showing off his winning smile and all those teeth!

Amie and Will having a catch up and a snack at the kids table. Isn't this cute?

You Have a little something right there...

I don't know how much yogurt Will actually "ate" but he was sure having a fun time feeding himself. He has to have a spoon or a fork now when he eats. It's messy but the good thing is it slows him down so he doesn't just shovel the food in. I love that he's learning all these things. I've really noticed a difference in him this past week. New words to add to the list are good and cute.

The Crying Game

Anyone who knows Will, knows that he loves the water and loves bath time. Well, we have one of those FrogPods in our tub that holds Will's toys and such. Every bath, Will loves playing with the FrogPod. He takes off the handle and uses it to fill with water and dump it over his head. He can remove it himself now. He also likes helping mommy put his toys back in it when it's time to get out of the bath. Well a few nights ago, he went to pull off the handle as usual, and the entire thing came off the wall and and slid into the tub. He didn't fall or bump his head or anything but he was terrified and he screamed and cried like I've never heard. Well, he has a good memory because we've tried twice now to give him a bath and he's all happy until he sees the tub and then starts freaking out. He totally scared to get into the tub now. Last night we tried by removing the FrogPod completely and daddy even got in with him, but he was having nothing to do with that either. It just breaks my heart to see him so upset like that, he just looks so scared. So we'll have to keep trying but if anyone has any great ideas on how to get him not to be scared, I'm open to hearing them. We even tried distracting him with bubbles and a new toy, but it didn't work. And those always get a smile and big giggle out of him....

Visit with Mike, Karla and Amie

Well Sunday ended up being so beautiful that once again, we found ourselves on a walk. This time with the Yungwirths. The kids were so cute, at one point they were holding hands as we pushed them in the strollers. And of course, a visit to the park was a must. We had a great dinner back at our house and a nice time to catch up. Will and Amie played so well together.

Total Bliss

We all woke up with a spring in our step on Saturday. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the birds were singing. Which meant, we HAD to get outside. Paul, Will and I had the most wonderful day. We went for a two hour walk around the Sandy Beach area and talked and dreamed and looked at beautiful houses and dreamed about our own perfect house one day. We smooched and laughed and of course went to the park so will could play. He really loves the park and going on the swings. Daddy took him down the slides and played with him on the swings. It was truly a bliss filled day.

Visit with Laura and Kiera

Friday morning I had to wait around the house for a couple hours so the Shaw guys could hook up my phone; so Laura and Kiera decided to come for a visit. Kiera is growing so fast and is such a little sweetheart and Laura of course is fantastic with her. Will loves babies and was so excited to see her, he went right over to her chair and started taking the blankets off of her. I think he was hoping she would be able to play with him. We had a great visit, then did a bit of shopping, had some lunch and went for a walk. It was a wonderful day and so amazing to be out with them knowing how long Laura and Reg has been waiting for her.

Park & Ride

Will and I have been at the park so much this past week. It's been so beautiful out we just couldn't help it. Will LOVES to go to the park and especially ride on the swings. He looked like a big puffalump in his coat today. I had to really wedge him in there to get him to fit. Do you remember puffalumps? I had a big blue dog puffalump when I was a kid, I loved it.

I'm 17 Months Old

I can't believe that Will is already 17 months old! He is such a big boy now. Among the many new accomplishments, his favorite new thing is eating with his fork. Some days he's really great at it, other days not so much, but either way he is very proud of himself when he actually gets something on his fork.

-He has his dads sense of humor for sure, he actually acts funny on purpose now
-He can get off the couch all by himself
-He understands questions and commands
-He loves going for a ride on his tractor or boat from Nonna and Nonno
-He loves going on the swings at the park and says "weeeeee" the whole time he's on them
-He can stand up without help and just be in the middle of the room without holding on to anything
-He walks all around furniture or holding on to a push toy
-He is the fastest crawler i've ever seen
-He now gives kisses (mostly just to mommy though :o)
-Some of his new words are okay, blanket, and I do it
-He plays so good by himself
-He says "hi" to everyone we pass on a walk or in the grocery store
-He likes to color
-He does the stairs in record time
